He looks in the mirror and stares at a stranger.
The guy he saw yesterday was more of a man.
Then he thinks of the many once chanting his name fondly.
What would they say if they saw him this way?
He puts on joint braces in player-like fashion
as something comes into a now booze-soaked mind.
Unsteadily walks, wishing for the old days,
and all of the fans who watched him back then.
Such are the memories of the everyday has-been
you see all the time bellying up to the bar.
The everyday has-been who gave up the good life for drinks.
